10-Day Swimming Challenge

For many kids, summertime is synonymous with fun in the pool! Swimming is a low-impact, high-energy sport, making it an excellent option for children with asthma, low stamina, and developmental disorders. Due to the buoyancy of the body in water, moving in the pool isn’t as strenuous as other physical activities and is more forgiving on the joints and connective tissues in the body. With all these great benefits, swimming is not only fun for your child, but can also help them make great strides in building strength and endurance.

For kids who are beginning to build strength and confidence in the water our Physical Therapists have prepared a 10-day swimming challenge to help them conquer the pool this summer. Each day of the 10-day swimming challenge includes different movements that can build strength, breath control, and range of motion to get your child swimming this summer!

Exercises in the challenge include:

  • Blowing bubbles

  • Floating

  • Kicking feet

  • Windmilling the arms

  • Treading water

  • And more!

If your child would like to participate in the 10-day Swimming Challenge you can download the printable PDF, or ask your therapist for a copy at your next appointment.

If you would like your child to be featured on our social media pages, photos can be shared with our front office by emailing fionah@kidsreach4speech.com
